Announcement regarding the deposit of documents

Vienna, 1 January 2014 All decisions of the Claims Committee which could not be serviced by 31 December 2013 and as such have not become legally binding are served by deposit with the Secretary General of the General Settlement Fund for Victims of National Socialism as of 1 January 2014 pursuant to Sec. 22a (para. 5) of the Rules of Procedure of the Claims Committee. Announcement concerning the deposit of documents with the Secretary General, ensuring the anonymity of the beneficiaries

Vienna, June 27, 2013 After ten years, the Claims Committee of the General Settlement Fund ('the Fund') has almost completed its task. Following the amendment to the law on the Fund (Federal Law Gazette I no. 9/2013) the Claims Committee is now in the position to bring its functions to an end and to fulfill its legal mandate to transfer the remaining funds to the National Fund of the Republic of Austria for programs benefitting victims of National Socialism. more...

Austrian Parliament Resolves Schedule for Closing Down the General Settlement Fund for Victims of National Socialism

Press Release of December 6 2012 On 6 December 2012, the Austrian parliament unanimously resolved the deadlines for the deposit of monetary compensation for victims of National Socialism which has been awarded but could not yet be disbursed. As a result, by the end of 2018 the work of the General Settlement Fund shall be completed and the remaining funds transferred to the National Fund of the Republic of Austria for programs benefitting the victims of National Socialism. more...

The Claims Committee of the General Settlement Fund has decided on all applications

Press Release of June 26 2012 On 25th June 2012, the Claims Committee of the General Settlement Fund for Victims of National Socialism, established in 2001 on the basis of the Washington Agreement between the USA, Austria and victims' organizations, decided on the last of 20,702 applications. In a ceremony held on 30th September 2010, the Medical University of Vienna restituted 39 books previously belonging to the former Professor of Pathology Carl Julius Rothberger to his daughter Bertha Gutmann. End of Deadline for In Rem Restitution

The deadline concerning applications for restitution with the Arbitration Panel for In Rem Restitution ended on December 31, 2009 for property (movable assets of a Jewish Community Organization) owned by one of the following Austrian provinces and municipalities on the cut off day, 17 January 2001: Burgenland, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Vorarlberg, Vienna, Bad Ischl, Grieskirchen, Kobersdorf, Korneuburg, Mattersburg, Oberwart, Purkersdorf, Vöcklabruck or Wiener Neudorf.
